Specialty Materials for Gaskets and Seals

In addition to standard elastomers and gasketing materials, Web Seal can provide sealing solutions that include a range of specialty materials. Web Seal can recommend the best specialty material for your specific sealing application.

Films and Foils

Polyimide film slit into rolls for die cutting gasketsFilms and foils can be custom die cut and laminated for a range of industrial applications, such as automotive, aerospace, electronics, life sciences, mining, and solar.  They include induction and heat seal foils, conventional and transparent polymer films, thermoplastics, aluminum, optical films, and other coated films and foils.

Web Seal die cuts a multitude of film types. Polyimide film, pictured here, is one of the many flexible, yet lightweight, durable films available.  It has stable mechanical properties and outstanding chemical and heat resistant characteristics, making it a reliable choice for extreme environments.

Metallics

Shim Stock

Plastic shim stock, color-coded by thicknessShim stock, typically used as spacers, creates a tighter fit among parts. They can also be used as electrical insulation and pressure adjusters in valves.  Shim stock materials are engineered to help meet precise industrial requirements.  They are available in a variety of materials, thicknesses (from 0.0005”), hardness, shapes and formats.  PSA can be applied to most shim materials.

Scotch-Brite™

Scotch-Brite™ material is a coarse non-woven polymer of cellulose, nylon or spun polypropylene fiber with various abrasive and hardening agents developed by 3M.  The material is color-coded by degrees of density from ultra-fine to extra heavy duty grit.  Common Scotch-Brite™ industrial applications include belts, discs, mufflers, pads and rotating brushes.

Technical Textiles

Technical fabrics are often used in acoustics, cables, diaphragms, electrical components, flexible seals, filters, hygienic environments, insulation, medical, and construction products. Protective fabrics are used in personal protective equipment to improve worker safety.

Agricultural textiles can be used for crop protection, erosion prevention, and fertilization. Textiles used in construction provide drainage, insulation, noise prevention, protection against the sun, and reinforcement, among other uses. There are numerous fabric applications in all types of vehicle manufacturing and environmental protection.

Web Seal can also fabricate custom parts from a selection of standard fabrics, most commonly leather, suede, baize, denim, netting and reflective fabrics, in a range of colors.
